Other Stair Lift Factors.

  1. The availability of a used stair lift is affected by many variables. In order to be an educated
consumer you should have all the facts. To that end we provide the following information.
  2. State regulations vary widely. Some local governments also have specific regulations
regarding new stairlifts installation. Insurance companies have been particularly tough since 9/11.
This also affects the products offered by your affiliate.
  3. It is important to know that not all used stairlifts are created equal when it comes to recycling.
  4. Track can be modified in length in many cases but a straight used stair lift cannot be made into a curved lift. The ends of the rails on a curved lift are manufactured differently where the straight
end meets the curved piece. This cannot be done after original production.
  5. The straight sections of track from a curved lift can, in some cases be used alone for a
straight set of stairs but the ends would need to be modified at a machine shop and this
    will add to the price.
  6. Some , but not all manufactures track can be added to, to increase the length. Longer track
can be shortened. Other used stair lift parts may need to be modified or replaced when this is done.
  7. A few manufacturers lifts can be switched from right to left. This does take time and in some cases new parts.
  8. The angle of the stairs must also be taken into account when moving used stairlifts from one location to another. The seat must be level on the rail. This is adjustable on all lifts but within certain limitations.
  9. The population in your area will also affect availability of used stairlifts. Obviously, in a major center there will be more product available for resale and in more remote areas there will not.
A dealer can only travel so far to purchase used stairlifts for recycling before cost becomes prohibitive.
